It would be great...

It would be great if I could cross a few things off my to-do list this week:

*clean the house
*finish all the laundry
*sand & stain my 2 end tables
*go on a date with my lover
*process my relationship with the Lord & meditate on what I need to work on in my own life
*WORK OUT
*study for mid-terms
*find a practicum site

WOOOOO. Ok, I can do this!

Right?!..

Makeover..

Our house has been in the process of getting a makeover for the past 2.5 years & now it's finally time to show some love to the exterior! Yesterday, Mike & I went to Lowe's & Menard's to price landscaping, new shutters, stucco, etc. We came back home with 2 new exterior lights that were desperately needed.

After

Those old lights were definitely showing the age of the house :/

Our checklist for outdoor projects:

-buy new exterior lights
-purchase flowers/bushes for landscaping
-buy new mulch
-powerwash the brick on the front, sides, and back of house
-order stucco board to replace red wood pieces beneath windows
-buy new black shutters
-scrape off chipped paint and repaint border around the garage
-plant grass in bare spots in the backyard
-figure out landscaping for backyard
-take down old satellite dish

I'm sure I'm forgetting something! Excited to start these new projects :)

Long-Term Project

I haven't blogged in a while...ugh, I really need to get better at writing at least every other day; however, I don't think my life is that interesting ;)

So...for those of you that have seen A Walk to Remember (btw, who hasn't?!) we can all agree that it is a major tear jerker. Okay, so who remembers the end of the movie when Jamie is in the hospital and she is reading the 1 Corinthians 13 entry to Landon out of the journal that her mom had written? Well if no one else remembers, I certainly do. I thought her mom's journal was the coolest thing ever because Jamie always had something special to remind her of her mom.

Before you start wondering...no, I am not pregnant. However, I want to start a journal for my kids (& Mikey too). Let me rephrase, I have already begun the journal and I love it. As of now, I have only included quotes and scriptures to live by, but as we start to have children, I would love to record special memories we experience together as a family, so when I do pass away, my kids & hubby will always have a piece of me with them.

This is where you come in. If you have any ideas or suggestions...or even quotes, let me know! I really want to stick to this and make it as special as possible.

Thanks so much!

..oh, like my new header?? ;)

Breatheeeeee....Just Breathe.

Thanks, Anna Nalick, for reminding me to just breathe. I am so over this season in life. I start a new quarter tomorrow for school...and honestly, I am not looking forward to it. I love school and I love what I am studying, but it is SO MUCH. Four classes & working full-time makes me want to pull my hair out. I am constantly exhausted, my social life is non-existent, and frankly, I am just not fun to be around.
Seriously, I DREAM of the day when I graduate and school is not holding my husband and I back from moving or progressing on with life. It has us chained to where we live because I am already over a year into the program and it would be stupid at this point to move and transfer schools. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends that have turned into family here...I would never want to leave them, but it is not fun living here. The weather is super bipolar, there is nothing to do where we live, and I'm pretty sure I have seasonal affective disorder...at least that is what I am diagnosing myself with ;) If we lived in a perfect world, I would live right next to the beach in a neighborhood with my friends and family.
Secondly, school is preventing children. Seriously, cannot believe I just said that. I have never been the "mom" type, so this baby fever that I have caught for the past couple months is a huge surprise to me. Maybe its because I am one of the last people in my circle of friends that doesn't have a child? Or maybe its because I just want my own family? Whatever the reason, its weird and school is ruining any plans of having babies for about another 1-1.5 years.

Of course, I was just reminded to be still, but let's be honest...it's super hard & super frustrating. Maybe I don't want to be still. Maybe I just want to put a "for sale" sign in my yard, move somewhere warm, and drop out of school. Yet, I know that doesn't solve anything...and I'm pretty sure God just chuckles at me when I get frustrated because He knows the plans mapped out for me. He has me in this season for a reason & I must remember that.

Prayers for a good day at school tomorrow & that my heart would find rest during this season.

Weekend Recap

Hope you all had a great weekend...I know I did. It was very relaxing and M & I had the opportunity to hang out with so many people!

On Friday at work, I was thinking of a cheap date night that we could have. We have an enormous amount of brush in our backyard that needed to be burned, so I thought, "why not have a bonfire and roast hotdogs and make s'mores?" So, I texted Mikey and he approved. It was soo much fun! We made dinner over the fire, ate s'mores for dessert, watched 2 episodes of Revenge & then some great friends of ours came over. T'was a great night :)

Saturday consisted of sleeping in {whattt, that is unheard of for me}...it was glorious! My dad came down and Mikey worked on his car and we were able to hang out, which was nice. Then I left for a good friend of mine's baby shower. She is due in May with a baby girl & she is so beautiful :) K definitely has the pregnancy glow :)

Sunday was another big day for us! We went to church that morning and celebrated Palm Sunday with our church family then went to lunch with some of the best people in this world. It was a fun afternoon :) Later on that evening, we went to the Third Day/Colton Dixon concert with some other friends and worshiped God in song with hundreds of other Christians. It was amazing.

So...there was our weekend. It was a lovely break from the usual "work on homework all weekend" that I am used to. We are thankful to have such wonderful people in our lives.
*************************************************
Came upon this verse today while at work & loved it.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

We now have a room for guests.

Well, I wrote my last post in December. Sorry for the lack of posts, but school & work were crazy sooo blogging had to be put on the back burner.

I thought ya'll would love a classic, bathroom MySpace-type picture to welcome me back ;)

Ok, back to the main reason why I am writing this post. The guest bedroom has made some major progress, and while it isn't completely finished, it looks about a million times better already.

Before:

The picture directly above is an example of the horrific texture issue on our walls that we have to deal with. In order to paint a wall, we have to apply a layer or two of joint compound, sand the wall, primer, and then paint. It's definitely a long process.

Progress:

To-Do List:
  - paint closet doors
- finish adding trim around the closet
- paint bedroom door
- find dresser & DIY
- hang art/decorations
- buy bedskirt

That's it for now. The corner spot is my favorite. The yellow chair is a DIY project from our wedding & the rug is from Ikea.

If you have any cute or practical ideas for the room, comment below :)
